THE INSTITUTE OF CLASSICAL ARCHITECTURE & ART
As the nation’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the contemporary practice of the classical tradition in architecture, urbanism and the allied arts, the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art is a treasured resource for professionals, students, and the public at large. Education programs, lectures, and travel opportunities are offered at the national headquarters in New York and fifteen Chapters across the country. In addition, the Institute offers intensive training programs for architecture and design students led by world-renowned instructors. The Institute publishes the award-winning journal, Classicist, and the widely acclaimed book series Classical America Series in Art & Architecture.
THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAPTER
Founded in 2004, the Northern California Chapter offers a wide array of programs that include lectures, continuing education classes, art, literary and historic symposiums, along with architectural and travel tours throughout the Bay Area. The Julia Morgan Awards, held biennially, were established in 2014 to acknowledge outstanding regional work in architecture, design, craftsmanship, patronage, preservation and restoration. Fundraising efforts have enabled an annual scholarship which is awarded to a student or professional member to attend the Institutes’ Manhattan-based Winterim or Summerim programs at the Institute in New York. In addition, the Chapter supports the Institute’s special programs, the prestigious Arthur Ross Awards, and locally, the digital documentation of San Francisco’s Mission Dolores through The California Missions Foundation, and the interior architectural restoration of The Salon Doré at the Legion of Honor Museum.
OUR ANNUAL SPONSORS provide the necessary funds to continue to offer and expand our programs. The success of our Chapter is fully due to the dedication of our members, the commitment of our Board of Directors, and the largesse of our Corporate and Individual Sponsors such as you. We are most grateful for your generous support.
