As president of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, Northern California Chapter, I am thrilled with the efforts of Kevin Peters, Chapter Secretary, and Nancy O’Connor, Chapter Coordinator, with this premiere issue of the ICAA Northern California's e-newsletter. This ICAA NoCal e-newsletter will be a great resource for members to keep up-to-date with ICAA NoCal events and will also enable members to access the ICAA calendar to plan ahead for all that's happening in the upcoming weeks. Our Spring Tour “Castles in the Sky” was an exclusive visit into six of San Francisco’s premier private residential apartments.
Our education classes and lectures continue to inspire local supporters. Popular instructor Domiane Forte presented “The History & Theory of Proportion.” He was joined by USC School of Architecture’s Andrea Keller.

Former Chapter President, Joe Lucier, organized our Annual Lecture Series focusing on the extraordinary legacy of William Randolph Hearst, who would be celebrating his 150th birthday this year.
This year’s blow-out party to recruit and welcome new members was organized by our membership committee and hosted by Richard Beard and team at B.A.R. Architects, San Francisco.
The Northern and Southern California Chapters came together in October for a weekend in San Simeon and tour of Hearst Castle, including day and evening tours, a special luncheon, Hearts winery wines, and a private lecture by Hearst historian, Victoria Kastner. (More...)
In 2014, we launch a series of free "On the Board' tours for ICAA members. The tours will allow members to visit the offices of architects and designers involved with the ICAA. The first tour will be hosted by Andrew Skurman Architects.

The ICAA will partner with SFMOMA’s Architecture & Design Forum for a tour of the Swedenborgian Church in San Francisco. Celebrating the 30th year of SFMOMA's permanent collection of architecture and design, Bernard Maybeck's drawing for the design of the church is among the collection's earliest works.

Speakers included Mark Wilson, architectural historian and author; Amy Lippert, Assistant Professor from the University of Chicago; Mary Levkoff, Dept. Head of Sculpture & Decorative Arts at The National Gallery, and Gray Brechin Ph.D., author and project scholar from U.C. Berkeley. (More...)
